An investigation found that Jeremy C. Gardner painted the words "JAEBANS" and "GEK" more than two dozen times on structures in public parks, apartment buildings and commercial businesses, Lt. John R. Miscia said.

Gardner was charged with criminal mischief and released pending a first appearance in Morris County Superior Court.
